Casa Dolores Olmedo
|
This private house in Acapulco belonged to one of Mexico's great patrons of the arts, Dolores Olmedo. Visitors come from far and wide to silently appreciate the fabulous mural by Mexican artist Diego Rivera on the exterior wall.
Rivera, who was a friend of Olmedo's, lived in the house from 1956 to 1957 whilst recuperating from an illness. The mural took Rivera 18 months to finish and depicts Aztec gods such as Quetzalcoatl and Tepezcuincle. Covered in brightly coloured mosaics, stones and seashells, it is considered one of the most important cultural works in the city.
