Held every year in Valletta, this feast commemorates the shipwreck of St Paul in Malta in 60 AD. Celebrations include marching bands, fireworks and a procession which carries the statue of the Saint through the streets.
St Paul, patron Saint of Malta, performed a number of miracles during his stay on the island, including the healing of Publius's father, the Roman governor. Tradition has it that when Publius became the first bishop of Malta, St Paul converted the Maltese to Christianity.
