The Luxembourg City History Museum is dedicated to educating visitors on all aspects of the city's economic, social and political history. It is set in four old restored houses which bear archaeological traces from the Middle Ages.
The lift, a huge glass cage that can hold up to 65 people, could be likened to a time machine as it slowly rises up from the ancient rock foundations on the lower level to the views of today's Grund district and Rham plateau above. The upper levels of the museum host temporary exhibitions.
