The International Folklore Festival in Vilnius - Skamba Skamba Kankliai - held first in 1973 returns every late May with folk concerts to the Old Town's quaint squares. There are singing evenings, guest concerts, dance workshops and various accompanying exhibitions.

In 2007 the international line-up included performing groups from Britain, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, neighbouring Latvia and Estonia.
