The New Baltic Dance festival in Vilnius has been bringing the best of contemporary dance to the Baltics since 1997. Performances organised by the Lithuanian Dance Information Centre take place across the Lithuanian capital, as part of the annual Vilnius Festivals programme, in such venues as the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, Vaidila Theatre, Meno fortas, Klaipeda Concert Hall and the Klaipeda Art Exhibition Hall.
Ten years on from the fest ival's inception, the 2007 New Baltic Dance welcomed to Vilnius the Russian company Chelyabinsk Theatre of Contemporary Dance, star Swedish dancer and choreographer Charlotte Engelkes, the Quasi Stellar Dance Company from Greece, Dance Company Ertza from Spain and British choreographer Wendy Houston. Also included was a Swiss-Lithuanian dance showcase, featuring Compagnie DRIFT, choreographer Nicole Seiler, Ventura Dance Company and Da Motus in addition to new works by Lithuanian choreographers.
Keep an eye on both Vilnius Festivals and Lithuanian Dance Information Centre websies for details of the next New Baltic Dance.
