The National Opera and Ballet Theatre, situated in the heart of Vilnius, was built in 1974 to become the modern headquarters for the oldest and the largest arts institution in Lithuania.
The theatre has a 1004-seat main hall and a 250-seat Chamber hall. The season runs from September to June, with 15 current and four new opera productons shown each year, and two new ballets added to the programme each season.
The building also plays host to a number of the city's annual festivals, from New Baltic Dance and Gaida to the Vilnius Festival in June. For full details of this year's programme, please visit the National Opera and Ballet website.
