Housed in the former KGB headquarters, Vilnius' Museum of Genocide Victims is often colloquially known as "the KGB Museum." However, until 1990 the building - originally constructed as the District Court - had been the centre of various regimes' attempts to cajole, browbeat and torture the Lithuanian peoples, whether by their Russian, Polish, Nazi or Soviet oppressors. With humankind's rather macabre fascination of the subject matter, here you can see the workings of the Eavesdropping Room, detailing how the KGB undertook secret surveillance. You can also find out how Lithuanian deportees and prisoners coped from day to day in an exhibit called "Life Goes On."
