Capital Days (Sostinės dienos) is the official festival of Vilnius and the most spectacular fiesta in the city. Established in 1993, the open-air event takes place in squares and parks throughout the city, in particular Cathedral Square and Vingis Park.
Attracting more than 250,000 spectators, Capital Days presents classical concerts, opera performances, jazz, folk, pop, rock and world music concerts, a film festival, street theatre, fashion shows and even a carnival. The festival ends with a bang, as a tremendous fireworks display in Cathedral Square brings the week to a glorious close.
