Over 1000 runners hit the streets of the Latvian capital in the annual Noreda Riga Marathon, starting next to Arena Riga on Grostonas Street. Run annually since 1991, in 2007 the course record was broken by Kenyan Johnstone Kipkorir Changwony, who won the €1000 prize with a time of 2:18:30. Entrants choose between the full marathon, the half marathon and the mini marathon.

However, the ladies' record has never been broken since A Dudajeva's 2:43:53 time in the first, 1991, Marathon. In 2007 180 completed the full 26 miles (and a few yards), with 304 half-marathon finishers and 589 mini-marathoners.
