Riga Castle was founded in 1330 and sits proudly on the banks of the River Daugava on the site of the first permanent structure in Riga. Today it serves as the residence for Latvian presidents and also houses the Latvian Foreign Art Museum and the Rainis Museum of Literature and Art History in its outer buildings.
