This photographic institution in Riga, is well worth a visit for a good visual insight into the Latvian national identity, past, present and future.
The Museum comprises of a permanent exhibition and temporary gallery space together with an archive and library facility.
The permanent collection illustrates the growth and development of photography in Latvia from 1839 to 1941 and contains daguerrotypes, ambrotypes, silver-gelatine photographs, photographic equipment, documents, books and magazines, with the images giving a visual insight into the political and cultural history of Latvia.
