Located on the Bergi lakeshore, the Ethnographic Open Air Museum offers a glimpse of Latvian life between the 16th and 19th centuries. Dozens of original wooden homes, churches, taverns and farm buildings have been reassembled to be preserved for posterity.

It is the biggest museum in Latvia and one of the oldest open-air museums in Europe. Eighteen craftsmen (bee-keepers, weavers, potters and others) work there during the summer, creating beautiful handicrafts and souvenirs made of natural materials (which can be bought). Summer folk and organ music festivals have also become popular here over the years.
