On Epiphany, la Befana descends from the sky on her broomstick to drop off presents for good children and coal for the bad ones! For over 30 years, Urbania has been organising Italy's biggest party to welcome this mythological character.
Five days of music, markets and street celebrations include fearless Befanas racing on wooden go-karts, the Bingo Befana and classical music concerts for the grown-ups. Past editions have also featured the Acrobatic Befana jumping from a 30-metre tower to open the door of her house to the children.
This year's events are yet to be decided, as the organisers are encouraging children to put their own ideas forward.
