Opening Hours: Throughout the day
Unmarried women in Ponzano Romano receive a symbolic gift from the local council, as well as a heartfelt wish for them to find a husband, in this quaint and amusing local festival.

The feast day of St Nicholas is celebrated in a unique fashion here: following the obligatory mass and morning procession comes the "feast of the unmarried women", when representatives of the local city council convene at the old municipal building and extract a random name from a container filled with the names of unmarried women between 18 and 34 in the area. The extracted name is declared the winner and receives a symbolic dowry, as well as the wish of the representatives that she find a husband soon.

For those of you not seeking local brides, there is also a gastronomic event on the same day, where visitors can try out the year's new wine and feast to their heart's content on sausages, local olive oil and plenty of Bruschetta, specially-prepared bread.
