Benedictine Celebrations
When: 20 - 21 Mar 2008 (annual)
Where: Piazza San Benedetto
Saint Benedict is the patron saint of Norcia, as well as all of Europe. Every year celebrations, processions and jousting contests take place in his honour in and around Piazza San Benedetto.

On the night of 20 March, the ambassadors of several European nations meet in Norcia and wait for the torchlit procession to arrive from one of the European capitals. The next day, the city evokes its medieval past with a crossbow competition, alongside an enthusiastic race between the guaite, or city districts.
