County Wicklow is so green and beautiful that it is sometimes known as the Garden of Ireland. The Wicklow Garden Festival offers the opportunity to visit private gardens, as well as to see some of the country's finest Heritage Properties.
The numerous gardens open to the public during the festival are usually inaccessible, but open up for the benefit of worthy charities.
The Great Houses of this historically rich county are also worth the visit in themselves. They include the beautiful Avondale House in Rathdrum, Killruddery House and Gardens in Bray (the most extensive surviving French-style garden in the country) and Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford. Or take the chance to see Powerscourt House and Gardens in Enniskerry and Russborough, beside the Blessington Lakes.
Please contact the tourist office for details of the properties you can visit, times and prices.
