Ireland's largest jazz event, the Guinness Jazz Festival takes over Cork for four days every year, promising a top line-up of jazz in all its guises - from Dixieland to swing, bebop and traditional. Performances take place at over Cork.
The event has attracted many of the greats over the years, including Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey. In 2008, up to 1000 musicians from 25 countries entertain the fans in venues citywide. Highlights include The Yellowjackets, Cindy Blackman, David Murray and Paco Peña Flamenco.
