First held in 1996, the delightful Galway Early Music Festival of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music is increasing in popularity, attracting some excellent players across a variety of musical styles. The main venue is the 14th-century Collegiate Church of St Nicholas, the largest medieval church in Ireland.
Visitors come from England, America and Europe - supplementing a substantial local and national audience. Musicians also parade through the streets and along the 700-year-old medieval city wall on the Saturday of the event. Dancing, costumes and street performances provide visual stimulation to match the music.
Please visit the festival website for full programme details.
