Boyle bursts at the seams for the eight-day Boyle Arts Festival. Visitors can expect a full menu of concerts (including classical, traditional Irish music and jazz), theatre performances, comedy, children's entertainment and literary readings.
The festival is also highly regarded for its group exhibition of contemporary Irish art, which features up to 50 of Ireland's leading artists and sculptors every year.
In 2008 the programme includes appearances and performances by No Crows, Sandra Oman, Kevin McAleer, John Carty, Phil Coulter, Catapult Dance Company, Bernard MacLaverty, Regina Nathan, The Ploughboys, The Drawing Room Opera Company and John Banville. There are also jazz, poetry, popular opera and song performances.
