Dramatically located on the Pest banks of the Danube, the Parliament is the vast 1902 creation of Imre Steindl. The 96-metre high dome and neo-Gothic maze of golden halls house Hungary's national assembly. Protestors and tourists gather outside.
Partly modelled on London's Houses of Parliament, the palace is graced with a spire-topped red dome, overlooking the Danube to one side, Kossuth Square to the other.
