Organised by the same company responsible for the vibrant summer Sziget Festival, the flamboyant Budapest Parade sees 50 carnival floats, sponsored by local radio stations and clubs, cross Budapest via Andrássy Street from Roosevelt Square to Hero's Square. Something like a cross between London's Notting Hill Carnival and Berlin's revitalised Love Parade, thousands of revellers watch and follow the floats.
The parade proper ends in a massive firework display, and then the fun really begins, as clubs across the city offer post-parade parties which run long into the night!
