Saint Juniana receives a week of celebrations in her honour each June in San Pedro Sula. The culmination of the annual Feria Juniana celebrations is her own feast day on 29 June.
The Feria Juniana is one of the biggest parties in Honduras, with a week of carnival, parades and music-making. Dance and music performances take place on a mobile stage in the downtown area, with the main procession heading down Avenida Circunvalación.
San Pedro Sula is Honduras' second city and a major port for the coffee, banana, sugar and timber trades. It dates back to 1536 but gives the impression of being a very modern, dynamic city, reputedly one of the fastest-growing between Colombia and Mexico.
Please note: proceed with caution in Honduras, as some parts of the country have been known to be dangerous.
