Lagana's Saloon Bar is a popular late spot amongst tourists, despite its cheesy music. Funnily enough, it's often those who complain loudest about the music who are seen dancing most energetically, after liberal amounts of Ouzo.
Zante, or Zakynthos, lies just south of Cephalonia. Lagana is the island's main resort and boasts the longest beach in the Mediterranean, at over 4km. The soft sand is enjoyed by both tourists and rare loggerhead turtles, who visit each July and August to lay their eggs. Don't expect to go skinny dipping as the beaches are patrolled at night for the protection of those precious eggs.
Lagana is famous for its busy nightlife - all the clubs and bars are concentrated along the main street within easy stumbling distance of eachother. It's probably a bit on the rowdy side for families.
