Every December, Syntagma Square in Athens welcomes Christmas with decorations, entertainment and a chance to meet with the big man himself...

In 2006, 15 multi-hued wooden cabins in the the Town of Treats sell local pastries and sweets. Children can watch the elves as they create toys in Santa's Workshop, play and chat with St Basil himself (as he is known in Greece) and get to know his magical world.

An antique carousel dating back to 1886 is also on display, featuring vividly-painted horses and charming carriages, and it wouldn't be Christmas without a big tree in the middle of the square, festooned with colourful balls and twinkling lights.
