Aegina is a picturesque island and a popular tourist destination located just a short hop from Athens' port Piraeus. As well as beaches and fishing harbours the island is graced by sites of archeological interest. These include the ancient Temple of Aphaea dedicated to the goddess Aphaea and the Monastery of Agios Nectarios, dedicated to the last saint of the Greek Orthodox Church, Saint Nectarios.
