Between April and October many of the towns lining the River Mosel hold their annual Wine Festivals. For several days life takes place on the streets, local wine and food is served all day and music is in the air.

The tradition of the festivals is deeply rooted in the region's history, where wine has always played a large role. The whole Mosel valley is lined with vineyards and in the past many of the towns have lived off their wine growing, each creating a speciality wine. Although wine growing is now only one industry among many, wine is still hugely important to the area. It matters not only economically, but is also part of people's way of life.

Even the smallest Mosel town will hold a wine festival at some point during the year and in the summer you are very likely to find a festival every weekend. Some of the bigger and well-known celebrations include Pünderich (2-4 May), Cochem (21-25 May), Zell (27-30 June), Traben-Trarbach (11-14 July) and Bernkastel-Kues (15-17 August).

Please visit the Mosel website for further information and a complete list of all events.
