Stretching from Koblenz to Rüdesheim, the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine Valley is one of Germany's most beautiful regions. The river makes its way through lush countryside past picturesque towns, vineyards and castles.

Sparking inspiration for numerous songs and poems over many centuries, the valley has a unique charm and cultural richness. Among the many myths surrounding the area, one of the most fascinating is the story of the Loreley, surrounding the rock near the town of St Goarshausen. Legend has it that a beautiful woman with golden hair used to sing from the top of the rock, her beauty and her music hopelesly distracting the many captains passing by... hundreds of ships sank here in the past. Today, the rock has a large open-air stage which hosts a variety of live concerts, theatre productions and other shows throughout the year.

The best way to explore the valley is to hop on one of the many boats that cruise the river. Afterwards, relax in a cosy restaurant, a small wine bar or a street cafe.
