Museums all over Germany take part in the International Museums Day, which presents a wide range of special exhibitions to publicise the unique role of museums in society.

An estimated 6000 institutions participate under the motto "Museums and Universal Heritage", staging a staggering variety of displays, shows and exhibitions to celebrate world culture and art.
