Hamburg Christopher Street Day
When: Jul - Aug 2009 (annual)
Where: Hamburg

The annual Hamburg Christopher Street Day celebrations include a spectacular parade, opening charity gala and street party lasting the whole of the first weekend in August. There are other events organised throughout the ten days.

The festival aims to prove to the world that Hamburg is a liberal, international and tolerant city - and is proud of it. While this colourful and flamboyant event focuses on gay and lesbian life in the city, there are strong political undertones to all the frivolity and merrymaking.

Of course there is plenty of lighthearted fun to be had as well, with a stream of parades, concerts and entertainment for more than 500,000 visitors.
