Most people wouldn't believe how crazy it gets during Bremen Carnival. Parades, masked concerts and parties provide plenty of opportunity for fun. Each year the theme changes, but the infectious sound of pounding drums always accompanies colourful and flamboyant celebrations.
Bremen's carnival began in 1985 when a local samba club decided it wanted to bring a little festivity to the streets of the Hansa city.
In 2009 the theme is "Red". After a big party on Friday night, the street carnival takes place on Saturday afternoon, with a ball on Saturday night and many associated events. Please visit the carnival website for details.
