The Frankfurt suburb of Bad Vilbel, in the Taunus hills north of the city, stages its annual festival in the picturesque ruins of the Wasserburg Castle.
Since 1986, the festival has grown to attract tens of thousands of visitors with a mix of classical theatre, late-night cabaret and children's shows. Its location 20 minutes north of Frankfurt makes it easy to take a break from the metropolis and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
The programme offers some enjoyable shows even for non-German speakers. Around the castle ruins, musicians, acrobats and jugglers enliven the festival atmosphere.
