The Samara park in Picardie contains 30 hectares of prehistoric recreations that endeavour to teach visitors about how this part of the world was a long, long time ago. The initiative behind this prehistoric settlement with all the mod-cons is fully realised with their annual children's day.
The settlement is packed full of little kids dressed up as Neanderthal creatures, recreating the roles of the long-deceased villagers. From cutting flints, making fire and experimenting with catapults to the more mundane yet equally worthy flour-making, weaving and jewellery design, the day should capture the imagination of even the most thumb-weary console kid.
With the added bonus of an excavation site for all budding Indiana Joneses (buxom women and snake pits not included), the day always proves to be extremely popular and busy. For this reason, all children must be accompanied by an adult.
