Basque Coast Music Festival is one of France's premier classical music festivals. Performances take place in the many glorious churches of Saint-Jean de Luz, Bayonne and Ciboure, as well as Biarritz's Casino Municipal. The 2008 programme is dedicated to Beethoven.
The Basque people are extremely proud of their way of life and culture. While the main Basque land is situated in Northern Spain, there is no doubt that the enclave around the French Atlantic also upholds the traditions of the community.
To celebrate this, every year the region's late summer festival features orchestras, choirs and soloists - all producing classical music of a very high standard.
