Each summer, the Retretti Art Centre in Punkaharju allows visitors to plunge into the depths of art - quite literally, as some of it is underground.
Visitors can see more than 50 machine models built to the designs of Italian genius Leonardo da Vinci, brought over from Florence.
Contemporary Finnish art is also represented in the underground galleries and young visitors can take part in special workshops.
In the summer of 2008, Retretti celebrates its 25th anniversary with an exhibition of over 100 works by Finland's Golden Age artist, Ellen Thesleff (1869-1949).
