Holy Week, or Semana Santa, starts on Palm Sunday and continues with the days leading up to Christ's crucifixion on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. The festival is the most important on El Salvador's religious calendar and is celebrated nationwide with church services and carnival-style fiestas.
