Attracting nearly 2000 long-distance runners from around 36 countries, the International Egyptian Marathon takes place annually in the city of Luxor, along the famous ancient monuments of the West Bank and through the sugar cane fields of the local farmers.
In addition to the main marathon, the event features the Luxor Run (22km), Ramses Run & Walk (12km) and races for inline skaters and wheelchair users. Children can also test their physical abilities and competitiveness with the 5km Kids' Run.
