Blessed with spectacular coral, deep water, caves and canyons, the Giftun Islands offer ideal conditions for divers and day trippers from Hurghada.

Big Giftun Island and Small Giftun Island both feature assorted marine life including whale sharks, barracudas and oceanic white tip sharks.

While diving in this area is what kick-started tourism in the first place, the numerous tour boats that anchor every day are beginning to cause some damage to the coral. To combat this, the area is now a protected marine park. Access is subject to fees, which are used to fund environmental projects aimed at preventing further damage.
