Taking over every cinema in Copenhagen, the NatFilm Festival is Denmark's biggest film event. International feature films are its stock in trade and movies which have yet to find a Danish distributor make up 75 per cent of the programming.
Although it exists to promote home-grown filmmaking talent, the festival also has an emphasis on independent cinema from Asia and America. Each year a number of these movies secure theatrical release or TV-sale in Denmark as a direct result of festival screenings.
Parts of the programme are also screened in three other cities in Denmark: Odense, Aalborg and Århus. The festival website publishes full details of this year's programme as soon as they are available.
