On the northern edge of Copenhagen, Bakken amusement park was created over 400 years ago. Fear not, the rides have been replaced since then and new ones are added every year. Old favourites include the giant rollercoaster.
The natural beauty of the surrounding deer forest is also an unexpected pleasure. So ecologically-minded are the owners of the park that not only are no cars allowed (only bicycles and horse-drawn carriages), but Bakken actually closes in late August to avoid irritating the deer, who start their mating season in September. All proceeds from the rides go towards the protection of the nature reserve.
