Prague's One World Film Festival has rapidly become an important voice to be reckoned with. Its aims are as stark as they are ambitious - "...to expose abuses, encourage dignity, inspire solidarity and foster mutual understanding."
From its small beginnings in 1999, with just 48 documentaries and 3000 audience members, within four years the One World Film Festival could command an audience of 18,200 in Prague alone, with more seeing festival submissions in 18 other cities.
Created by the non-profit People in Need (Czech TV Foundation), One World Film Festival promotes documentary filmmaking by screening documentaries in cinemas to audiences who would otherwise have limited opportunities to explore the genre. Prague's Lucerna cinema is the main festival centre, but the event also spills out into other city venues.
The One World Film Festival website is the place to find all details of the forthcoming event.
