The Days of European Film were first held in 1994. Bringing together the best of European feature films and shorts, the Brno leg of the event takes over the Sál B Bakaly cinema, having already been to Prague.

The festival also breaks the boundaries of the European Union (current and imminent members), including films from the wider continent, and features some 40 feature films and ten shorts every year. In Brno there is also a focus on Film Education in the Czech Republic, with a round-table discussion.

Films are often shown with English subtitles, but in any case, all are simultaneously translated into Czech via headphones.
