The Native Museum of Porec is situated in a Baroque palace, dating from the 18th century. A stroll round this ancient building reveals a large collection of stone monuments bearing Roman scriptures and an archaeological collection of prehistoric ceramic works, housed on the ground floor.
On the first floor visitors will find original Baroque salons filled with paintings and artistic objects. There is also a special collection of portraits and objects belonging to the Carli family from Kopar, whose last descendants lived in Porec. Woren sculptures from the early Middle Ages are also on display and the museum keeps an historically rich library and collection of interesting documents.
