Church of Blessed Virgin Mary's Birth

This beautiful three-nave church in the small town of Labin, close to Rabac, was built in 1336 on the foundations of a smaller church dating from the eleventh century.
The church has been renovated several times over the years and today a Venetian lion with a sphere in his mouth decorates the front façade, as does a 17th century baroque statue of senator Antonio Bollani, who fought against the Turks.
Inside, the church is extravagantly decorated with six marble altars. One of them contains the relics of St Justin, brought here from Rome in 1664. The main altar and altarpiece features six figures of the Virgin Mary, St Pauline and Saints Justin, Sergio, Julian, Tom and Jacob.
