On a Lantau Island hilltop sits Po Lin Monastery & Big Buddha in serene lotus position, 26 metres high and weighing 202 tonnes. Walk up the long staircase and around the base, then inside the small museum. Avoid overcrowded Sundays.
The monks at the monastery have developed quite a reputation for the delicious vegetarian lunches they serve up for visitors, which is just as well, as anyone climbing the steps to see the Buddha at close quarters is sure to work up an appetite.
