The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is a unique world-class athletic event that showcases many of Hong Kong's landmarks - old, new, natural and man-made. The total prize money is US$70,000.

Runners assemble at Nathon Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon near Haipong Rd and the Hotel Miramar and finish at Golden Bauhinia Square, Wanchai. The full marathon (limited to 8000 participants) is an open race for seniors and veterans. For the two shorter races there is also a junior category. Twelve thousand places are available for the half marathon and around 30,000 for the 10km run.

First held in 1997, the marathon record is held by Belay Wolsahse from Ethiopia - a time of 2:13:09.
