The Guizhou Famous Liquor and Wine Festival celebrates the best in Chinese alcohol. No weak lager for them - they prefer the lethal rice wine and Maotai literally meaning white spirit.
The distillery in Maotai village, near Yunyi, has made it's famous liquor a household name - look for the distinctive white porcelain bottles. If you're feeling brave and strong of stomach, then join in on the celebrations. Just remember hangovers hurt!
Other tourist attractions include the site of China's historical Zunyi Meeting, where the Communist Party halted their Long March in 1935 and changed the course of Chinese history, and the waterfalls at the Shizhang Caves near the border with Sichuan.
