The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is one of North America's largest. Around 130,000 visitors converge on the Keystone Centre in Brandon.
The fair dates back to 1908 and continues to feature many of the original western traditions. Visitors can witness everything from the heifer scramble, in which children try to catch a running calf, to the eight-horse wagon pull, equestrian and draught-horse contests. There are also clowns and other entertainment for the kids, hawking demonstrations and a fiddlers' contest.
