Montreal's First Peoples' Festival spotlights Aboriginal culture and traditions in the Americas through film. Both traditional and contemporary Aboriginal culture are celebrated at venues throughout the city.

Since its inception in 1991, the event has offered an invitation for those of all origins to discover North America's first inhabitants and their culture. The festival offers a programme of films and videos about the First Nations of the Americas, giving priority to works made by native directors. The films screened reveal aspects of the life of native communities, their real and imaginary world, customs, culture, history and spirituality.
