The Calgary Dragon Boat Festival attracts thousands of participants and spectators to the Glenmore Resevoir each year.
Inspired by the success of Vancouver's International Dragon Boat Festival, Calgary's first Dragon Boat Festival took place in 1992. The event has since expanded considerably and now features up to 100 teams of rowers competing for the trophy in front of around 50,000 spectators.
The event also features entertainment in the form of kung fu and tai chi demonstrations and lion dances.
