Vitosha Ski Resort is the highest in Bulgaria, located just 10km from Sofia. While its reputation doesn't match up to the resorts of Borovets and Pamporovo, its proximity to the capital city makes it ideal for hassle-free skiing.

Vitosha Ski Resort features six ski runs with various difficulty and length as well as a trail for ski running, Univerisada, at 9600m long. There are a number of chair and drag-lifts along with a gondola lift which starts from the outskirts of Sofia and reaches almost to the top of the mountain near Aleko.

In summer, Vitosha Ski Resort becomes a great place for hiking, although many trails are accessible all year round. Climbing is also possible on eastern part of the mountain.
